Power Plant 2040 move
The Power Plant 2040 used to be in a small room in the booking hall but this was demolished as part of the improvements to the station, so for a while it was in full public view, even being switched off on one occassion despite having a note saying not to be switched off.
There was a requirement for the unit to be moved into the house cellar next door.
Originally planned to be done in two stages, instead the move was made in one go on Sept 7th 2007, new 50 volt distribution cables having been pre-run between the comms room and cellar. I thought the most difficult task would be getting the cabinet into the cellar but this proved to be very straightforward thanks to the assistance of the loco shed staff.
